So ein schoenes und ruhiges Wochenende soll Jedes sein. Aber, leider nicht. Zweieinhalb Tage Entspannung mit gutem Lesen, Essen und Musik. Das Wetter hat nicht mitgespielt, aber man kann nicht alles haben. Ich habe ein sehr tolles Buch ueber Biozentrismus gefunden, das bestatigt, was  ich mehrere mal gelesen habe, dass dieses das Jahrhundert der Biologie ist. Es scheint, dass je mehr wir von der Physik und unserem Universum verstehen, desto verwirrender ist es. Schon Blaise Pascal hat verstanden, dass unsrer Welt, in ihrer Groesse und  Winzigkeit, grenzenlos ist, und die Wissenschaft scheint nicht faehig diese Idee zu verneinen. Dass die Quantenmechanik nur sinn macht, wenn man ihr eine humanistische Perspective verleiht, gibt mir irgendwie ein warmes, hoffungsvolles Gefuehl. Vielleicht kann uns die Wissenschaft  zeigen, wie wir als Mensch friedlich zusammen leben können?

Such a beautiful and peaceful weekend should every weekend be. However, unfortunately no. Two and a half days relaxation with good reading, food and music. The weather didn't seem to want to play along, but you can't have everything. I found a excellent book on Biocentrism which confirms the idea, of which I've read several times, that this is the century of Biology. It seems that the more we understand about physics and the nature of the universe the more confusing it is. Blaise Pascal pointed out many years ago that the world in it's greatness and miniscule is infinite, and science doesn't  seem capable of refuting this. That quantum mechanics only makes sense when one gives it a humanistic perspective is a very comforting feeling which makes me feel hopeful. Maybe science can show us how we as humans can live together in peace?

Nach zehn sehr frenetischen Tagen haben wir den Schluss des Muenchener Siegfrieds erreicht. Es scheint wie gestern, dass wir angefangen haben, aber was wir an Aufwand gegeben haben, ist viel. Es ist immer eine riesen Freude mit Kriegenburg zu arbeiten, und auch alle Kollegen dazu sind Spitze. Es erweist sich nach und nach als eine der besten Produktionen, an der ich je teilgenommen habe. Auch die Stadt freut mich sehr. Muenchen ist unbedingt eine der schoensten Staedte, die es in Deutschland  gibt, und das Wetter ist auch nicht uebel. Ich habe mehrere Interviews in den naechsten Tagen, und zwischen denen und den Buehnenorchesterproben muss ich auf die Stimme ein bisschen achten. Siegfried ist kein Witz, aber witzig schon.

After ten very frenetic days we have reached the end of the Munich Siegfried. It seems like only yesterday that we started rehearsals, but what an effort we have been putting in. Working with Kriegenburg is as always a great pleasure and all my colleagues as well are excellent. Slowly but surely this turning out to be one the the best productions that I have ever been a part of. The city of Munich as well is very beautiful, certainly one of the more beautiful in Germany, and the weather isn't all that bad either. I've several interviews in the upcoming days and between them and the stage orchestra rehearsals I'll have to be a bit careful with the voice. Siegfried is joke, but funny can it be.

Zurueck in Muenchen. Paris war toll und das Konzert war sehr Erfolgreich. Das Publikum am Ende war verrueckt. Leider, das Wetter war kalt und nass und mehere leute sind mit Erkaeltung zurueckgekehrt. Wir haben alle drei Akte des Siegfrieds mit Maestro Nagano geprobt. Ich mag ihn sehr. Er ist so musikalisch und am Moment er dir vertraut, faengt das Spiel an. Es macht ein riesen Spass. Die Inszenierung ist auch sehr lustig. Ich bin neugierig zu sehen wie das Publikum reagieren wird. Mehr Theater als dies hier gibt's nicht. Nach zwei Wochen ohne Pause dieses Wochende ist hoechst wilkommen.

Back in Munich. Paris was great and the concert was a big success. The public went crazy at the end. Unfortunately, the the weather was cold and wet and a number of people came back with colds. We rehearsed all three acts of Siegfried with maestro Nagano. I really like him. He is so musical and once you gain his trust the real game is on. It's such a lot of fun. The staging is really fun as well. I'm quite interested to see how the public will react. It doesn't get any more theatrical than this. After two weeks without a day off this weekend is most welcome indeed.

In der Lounge des Muenchener Flughafens. Wir haben den zweiten Akt Siegfried szenisch erledigt. Jetzt muessen wir alle Statisten dazu setzen. Die Inszenierung ist sehr lustig und macht viel Spass auch fuer uns Saenger. Gestern habe ich mit Jennifer Wilson nach der Vorstellung Turandot gegessen. Sie ist wirklich lieb und ich freue mich auf unsere naechste Produktion zusammen. Leider hat Vivi ihren Zug verpasst, also kommt sie spaeter nachmittags nach Paris. Sie bringt die Reste des veganen Kuchenverkaufs mit, den sie gestern an der Kleinen Kirche Karlsruhe mitgemacht hat. Vivi hat sechs veschiedene Desserts gebacken, und hat fast alles verkauft. Leider muss ich auf meine Kostprobe noch warten.

In the Lounge of the Munich Airport. We've sorted out the the scenes of Siegfried second act. We now have to throw the extras into the mix. The staging is really amusing and is a lot of fun for us singers as well. Yesterday I had dinner with Jennifer Wilson after her performance of Turandot. She's really such a nice girl and I really look forward to working with her again on future productions. Unfortunately, Vivi's missed her train so she'll be coming to Paris later this afternoon. She's bringing the remains of the Vegan Baksale that they held at the Kleinen Kirche in Karlsruhe yesterday. Vivi baked six different desserts and sold almost all of them. Unfortunately I have to wait still longer for my samples.

Seit Dienstag bin ich in Muenchen. Etwas frischer hier als in Karlsruhe, aber wie schoen ist die Stadt. Ich habe eine tolle Wohnung genau zwischen dem Nationaltheater und Marienplatz. Der Hofgarten ist ein Paar Minuten zu Fuss. Ich fuehle mich bisher wirklich wohl hier. Die Arbeit mit Kriegenburg macht echt Spass. Er hat sehr schoene und praezise Ideen, aber gleichzeitig laesst er uns wirklich frei das Spielen zu kreieren. Solche Inszenierungen sind ein reines Vergnuegen. Ich habe Jennifer Wilson heute im Theater getroffen. Sie ist derzeit hier fuer Turandot. Freitag gehen wir mittagessen. Ich freue mich auf den kleinen Ausflug nach Paris. Ich habe heute den ersten Akt von Walkuere wiederholt und morgen machen wir den zweiten Akt. So eine schoene Partie!

I've been in Munich since Tuesday. It's a little cooler here than in Karlsruhe, but what a beautiful city. I've got a great apartment right between the National Theater and Marien Platz. The Hofgarten is just a few minutes walk away. Up until now I really feel comfortable here. Working with Kriegenburg is really a lot of fun. He has very nice and precise ideas, but at the same time he allowes to be free to create through the acting. Such directing is pure pleasure. I meet up with Jennifer Wilson today in the theater. She's here at the moment for Turandot. On Friday we're going out for lunch. I'm really looking forward to the quick trip to Paris. I went through the first act of Walkuere today and we're doing the second act tomorrow. It's such a great role!
